Angeli Sowani
Angeli Sowani is a British Indian contemporary artist whose work is shaped by a life lived across India, Nepal, Thailand, Hong Kong and England. Originally trained in illustration and graphic design at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, her practice draws together influences from ritual, spirituality, architecture and human emotion, blending Eastern and Western references through layered colour, texture and symbolism. Known for abstract compositions that explore impermanence, memory and transformation, Sowani’s work reflects both personal experience and wider cultural narratives, creating paintings and textile collaborations that sit between contemporary art, atmosphere and meditative storytelling.
Over the course of her career, Sowani has held more than 30 exhibitions internationally, with works collected by film stars, heads of business and industrialists across the world. She has exhibited at prestigious institutions and galleries including the Royal Academy of Arts, Grosvenor Gallery, Jehangir Art Gallery and the Rotunda in Hong Kong. Two major works from her last exhibition on the unsung heroes of the World Wars hang in the Raffles OWO in London.
