Angeli Sowani Debuts
London Collection with Obeetee
OBEETEE announces the UK launch of its collaboration with Angeli Sowani, marking the first time the collection will be showcased to the British market at the brand’s showroom within The Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour, which opened earlier this year. Carrying a deep resonance for both the artist and the brand, the collaboration reconnects two stories shaped between Britain, India and Asia through art, craftsmanship and heritage, arriving at a moment when cultural and creative ties between the two countries are increasingly in focus following the landmark UK–India trade agreement signed in 2025.

Angeli Sowani began developing her artistic practice while living in Nepal, where the country’s landscape, spirituality and craft traditions continue to influence her work today. Known for her expressive abstract compositions, Sowani’s work explores movement, emotion and human connection through layered colour, texture and form. Her paintings sit between contemporary art and emotional narrative, balancing instinctive mark-making with a refined understanding of composition and materiality.
Through the collaboration with OBEETEE, Sowani’s artistic language has been translated into a collection of seven handwoven rugs that blur the boundaries between contemporary art and interiors. Rather than functioning purely as decorative pieces, the collection positions rugs as central artistic statements within a space. Each design is available as part of the core collection, while also offering bespoke colour adaptations, allowing designers and collectors to tailor the pieces to individual projects and interiors.
The launch also reflects a meaningful moment for OBEETEE itself. Founded in 1920 by three British entrepreneurs, the company’s opening of its first London showroom earlier this year marked a return to the UK market more than a century after the business was established. Presenting the Angeli Sowani collaboration within the space brings together the brand’s British roots and long-standing South Asian craftsmanship heritage.
Speaking about the collaboration, Angeli Sowani says:
“A room is often built around a painting on the wall, however a rug is what truly brings the room together. I wanted this collection to create that relationship within a space, where art becomes something lived with every day through texture, materiality and craftsmanship.”
Angelique Dhama, President of OBEETEE, adds:
“This collaboration represents a meeting of artistic expression and craftsmanship. Angeli’s work translated beautifully into the collection, creating pieces that feel both contemporary and timeless. Launching the collection in London also feels particularly significant for OBEETEE as we continue our return to the UK and celebrate the heritage of the brand.”
